Breathing
an
aerosol
of
chromic
acid
can
cause
cancer,
but
the
nature
of
chromic
acid
(damaging
DNA)
suggests
cancer
can
be
caused
through
any
form
of
contact.
It
also
causes
severe
burns
and
allergy.
In
order
to
minimize
any
risk
of
contact,
all
areas
where
exposure
may
occur
need
to
be
tackled
i.e.,
from
storage
to
disposal.
Handle
all
solutions
of
chromic
acid
with
gloves
on.
If
it
comes
in
contact
with
any
cuts
or
bruises
on
the
skin
then
immediately
wash
off
the
affected
part
with
5%
of
sodium
hydroxide
solution
and
then
plenty
of
water
is
recommended
to
prevent
the
formation
of
chrome
sores.
If
the
irritation
persists,
medical
help
should
be
immediately
sought
for.
